Emergency Preparedness: Cash

Banks, stores, ATMs - all these rely on electricity.  In case of an emergency you may be unable to access the money that is sitting in your bank account.  If you need to make a purchase at the store your card may be inaccessible as well.  This week's task will help you avoid the panic that comes from needing cash during an emergency.

This week's task

Put aside a stash of cash for emergencies. Remember the Joseph Principle? Put some of that cash in your purse or wallet.

It doesn't matter how small.  Start with five dollars, start with one dollar.  Make sure it's in a section of your purse or wallet that is away from the money you usually spend.  Do it now.  Don't procrastinate. You're looking to build up enough cash to cover the essential needs of you and your family for at least 3 days.
