Evacuation: The 10 Minute Challenge

Fire, flood, hurricane, tornado etc are all reasons why we may be asked to leave our home.  Here's a scenario for you.  If you were told that you had 10 minutes to evacuate your home, would you know what you want to take with you? Would you know where those things are?  Would those things be in an easily accessible location?  Something you should think about.  In the video below two families were given just such a situation.  They each had 10 minutes to evacuate their home.  Watch to see how they did.

If you are not able to view this video click here - Evacuation: The 10 Minute Challenge

Did you see yourself in either of these families?  How can you be better prepared in an evacuation scenario?  Follow these 4 steps as laid out in the video and get a greater peace of mind from being better prepared.
  1. Plan your evacuation ahead of time.
  2. Pre-pack emergency supplies and financial records.
  3. Create a home inventory that is stored elsewhere.
  4. Establish an out of town contact.
Starting tomorrow God willing, the weekly tasks for this month will focus around evacuation preparedness.  I'll be breaking it down into bite-sized pieces but go ahead and get a head start and do what you can out of the list above.
